BSA Bantam 125cc Bonneville Racers

In the last few months we have been
involved in a project with team Rooster
Booster. Please view BsaBooster.

Have now completed the second of the
two chassis that are competing on the
salt flats this August.
The classes we are entering are:
Pre '56 125cc air cooled two stroke
gasoline modified.
Pre '56 125 air cooled two stroke
gasoline special.
The photos show the 'special'.
Exhausts are being fabricated and
bodywork to be painted shortly.
The guys are busy with the engine
works. SCTA rules require standard
crank cases, barrel, carburettor and
points ignition. Crank cases have been
welded and modified to take new
oilways and larger bearings. Barrel
porting position changed and
aluminium shroud made to cover.
Lightened crankshaft machined.
Cylinder head machined. Aftermarket
conrod pistons, points, carburettor.
Currently, world record stands in the
mid 60mphs. There are many variables
to contend with at Bonneville. Large
variations in temperature during the
day. Oxygen depletion, the equivalent
of anywhere between 4000-7000 ft. A
racing surface the equivalent of baked
icing sugar. Quite a challenge!
